Matteo Trentin (Quick Step), leader of the points classification: “The race is the race and somebody was stronger than us today. But I think we did a very nice race anyway, with Bob (Jungels) fighting in the break and Enric (Mas), who was strong enough to make it all the way to the finish. He's very young. It's his first experience in La Vuelta and I think we can be happy with that. I prefer it cooler, but I think everybody was at the limit today because of the heat and also the pace.”

    Attacks all day long offered an impressive showdown on stage 6 of La Vuelta Thursday on the way to Sagunt. Tomasz Marczynski (Lotto Soudal) dominated the last survivors of a 37 man breakaway to snatch the win just ahead of a group of favourites set on fire by Alberto Contador (Trek-Segafredo). The triple winner of La Vuelta attacked in the last climb of the day with more than 40km to go and made sure most of his rivals suffer.
