Enric Mas (Quick Step): “A third place for my first participation at La Vuelta is really good. I'm going to enjoy it and rest for tomorrow. I knew they (Marczynski and Poljanski) were fast, but you always have to try and maintain a positive mindset. We were three at the front. At the beginning of the climb, we went fulls gas and I must be happy to have made it to the finish.”

Attacks all day long offered an impressive showdown on stage 6 of La Vuelta Thursday on the way to Sagunt. Tomasz Marczynski (Lotto Soudal) dominated the last survivors of a 37 man breakaway to snatch the win just ahead of a group of favourites set on fire by Alberto Contador (Trek-Segafredo). The triple winner of La Vuelta attacked in the last climb of the day with more than 40km to go and made sure most of his rivals suffer. Tejay Van Garderen (BMC): “I felt great. Obviously the pace was really hard so I was on the limit but when I looked back, I saw the selection being made and I was part of it, I thought it was a good way to cement my spot on GC. It was a bumpy road. I must have just hit something. My hand slipped of the handlebar. It all happened kind of fast. I'd have to watch the video to really see how it happened but I don't want to watch the video so it will be kind of mystery. My bike was damaged....
