Julian Alaphilippe (Quick-Step Floors): “We had to be wary all day long, it was mentally exhausting. There was no breakaway, we could see everyone was nervous. I just did my job. In the final, it was all for Matteo (Trentin). Then Yves Lampaert went super hard and when I saw him opening a gap I slowed down a bit. Yesterday, we were part of the best, and now we win in such a fashion… It's just great.”

    Quick-Step Floors dominated stage 2 of the 72nd La Vuelta through the wind. Yves Lampaert found an opening in the final kilometre to the finish line set at Gruissan. He snatched the victory just ahead of the sprinters… led by his teammate Matteo Trentin ahead of Adam Blythe (Aqua Blue Sport).
