The route

Running from Saturday Agust 28th to Sunday September 19th 2010, the 65th Vuelta a España will be made up of 21 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,400 kilometres. These stages have the following profiles:

  • 11 flat stages
  • 8 mountain stages
  • 1 team time-trial stage
  • 1 individual time-trial stage

Distinctive aspects of the race

  • 6 summit finishes
  • 2 rest days
  • 14 km. team time-trial
  • 46 km. individual time-trial stage

Alcalá de Guadaira, Caravaca de la Cruz, Villena, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Rincón de Soto, Solares, Peñafiel and Piedrahita

BOLA DEL MUNDO

A new stage looked forward too for La Vuelta a España’s 75th Anniversary Celebration. A first-rate event is assured. The last climb will be “Alto de las Guarramillas", better known as the “Bola del Mundo”. This new ascent is a continuation of the Navacerrada Pass. Three kilometers more, with up to 12.5% gradients promising to become a quite a milestone in the history of La Vuelta a España.
