Toledo will be the last stop before the race takes the first of its two rest days. From Ciudad Real to Toledo, the cyclists will only have to face one climb worth points, the 3rd category summit of Marjaliza.
Over the final kilometres, a formula previously used in the 2008 Vuelta reappears: an urban circuit and uphill finish with an incline in the very last kilometres to make all the pure sprinters sweat buckets.
History: Toledo has seen the finish of a Vuelta stage five times, although it is true that 19 years have now passed since Ghirotto earned the last victory in the regional capital of Castilla-La Mancha. Stablinski, Rik Van Looy, Perurena and Elliot were the other winners.
