The streets of Córdoba will be, once again, the silent witnesses of a stage where the speed will be the absolute protagonist. Few kilomtres, the heat and flat route are the main features of this stage. For the last stretch to be even more exciting, the riders will have to cross the streets of Córdoba 100 kilometres after the start and, climb Alto de San Jerónimo and then, finally climb down to the finish line.. Córdoba welcomed La Vuelta for the first time in 1959 and now it has become an essential stop every year. Winners such as De Wolf, Van Poppel, Leoni, Minali or Zberg celebrated their victories in these streets.

But this city has also helped the Spanish riders triumph; the first one who wrote his name here was Domingo Perurena (1974), after him Melchor Mauri (1997) and finally in 2000, the World Champion Oscar Freire did the same. This stage seems to be very suitable for the sprinters to take advantage and arrive all together in the streets of Córdoba.
