Esta será una jornada marcadMemories will be the only thoughts in many people´s minds this day. Ubrique welcomed La Vuelta only once before but, sometimes, only once could be more than enough to be reminded for ever. In 1990, La Vuelta reached Ubrique in the sixth stage but it was totally decisive. The stage had started in Loja and there was a massive break away; an unlimited adventure, minute after minute, brilliant sprinters such as Quevedo, Carlos Alvarez, Mora or Unzaga showed their best and finally the difference achieved by the Italian rider Marco Giovannetti took him to the podium in Madrid.

Jester Worre was the final winner of the stage and a young rider called Julián Gorospe, the leader overall. Both riders wrote their names in the history books of Ubrique and this city also wrote her name in the history books of Vuelta a España. This year, the route will provide the sprinters and adventurers a chance to break, especially in Las Abejas or El Viento mountain passes and then, they all will have to face the first category climb, Puerto de Las Palomas.
