La Vuelta reaches another key point: La Covatilla. This
is the first time the riders cover this area near Béjar.
These lands are known by some professional riders born here such as Heras, Blanco or the ex - rider Lale Cubino and those are looking for the final victory can use these roads to prove their stamina and their strength. The second part of the route is very tough with Altos de Honduras, a first category climb and Tornavacas and Tremedal two second category climbs. If the riders impose a strong rhythm during the first part, La Covatilla is going to settle important differences at the end. The breakaways must take place during the first five kilometres, because after that stretch there are several areas where the advanced men could be caught up. The teams have an essential role as the favourite riders must control the situation for those who are weaker could have a slight rest. We will climb to two thousand metres high, and that is significant. This will be an expected stage in the home stretch of the race. |
